A Subdued Purim Affects B’nei Menashe, Too
(February 28) Purim celebrations were subdued in Israel and India this year, mostly because of Covid-19 restrictions, and a bit, too, because the holiday fell on a Friday, when many people were busy making preparations for Shabbat. Without the usual parades and gatherings, there was less incentive to make and wear the elaborate costumes that are a large part of the holiday, and the B’nei Manashe reflected this trend, too.
